Trouble Signing In?

Most sign-in problems are one of a handful of things, and all of them are fixable in a minute or two. Find the one that sounds like yours.

The Email Hasn't Arrived

Work through these in order — one of them is almost always the answer.

  • Give it a minute. Mail systems sometimes hold new messages briefly before delivering them.
  • Check spam, junk and “Promotions”. This is by far the most common cause. If you find it there, mark it as not spam so the next one lands in your inbox.
  • Search your whole mailbox for Clientt rather than scrolling the inbox. Filters and rules can quietly file a message somewhere you would never think to look.
  • Check the address you typed. One wrong character and the email went somewhere else entirely. See the wrong address below.
  • Ask for another one. Go back to the sign-in page and press the button again. There is no penalty for requesting a fresh link, and the newest one is always the one that works.

Check the Email Address

This one catches people out, so it is worth understanding. We deliberately do not tell you whether an address has an account with us. If we did, anyone could type addresses into the form and learn who our customers are.

The consequence: a typo looks exactly like success. You get the same “check your email” message either way, and then no email ever comes — because it was sent to an address that does not exist, or never sent at all.

So if nothing arrives, check the spelling carefully. The usual suspects are:

  • a missing or extra letter in your own name;
  • .co where you meant .com (or the other way round);
  • your personal address when your account uses your work one — or vice versa;
  • an old address from a previous employer, or one you had before a company name change;
  • an autocomplete suggestion your browser filled in for you.

Try each address you might plausibly have used. If none of them works, your account may be under an address you have forgotten — that is a good moment to ask us.

You Never Set a Password

If you are thinking “I never set a password” — you probably never did, and you do not need one. The emailed link is the way in for most accounts, which is why the sign-in page asks only for your email address.

If you know you do have a password — for example you set one when you first joined — the password form is still there, just not shown by default. Open the sign-in page with the password option and a password field will appear alongside the email one. “Forgot password?” is on that page too.

If you are not sure either way, use the emailed link. It works whether or not you have a password.

Nothing Happened When You Clicked

When you click the link you land on a page that says Logging you in… and then finishes signing you in by itself, after a moment. There is nothing to click. If it sits there for more than a few seconds, one of these is usually why:

  • JavaScript is switched off. The page notices and shows you a Sign in button instead — press it and you are through.
  • Cookies are blocked. Signing in has to store a cookie to remember you. If your browser or an extension blocks them for this site, you will be bounced straight back to the sign-in page. Allow cookies for Clientt and try again.
  • You are in a private / incognito window, or the link opened in a different browser from the one you were using. Private windows sometimes discard the sign-in cookie immediately. Copy the link into a normal window instead.
  • The link was cut in half by your email app. Long links are sometimes wrapped across two lines. Copy the whole thing and paste it into the address bar, rather than clicking.
  • A VPN or company network is interfering. If you can, try again off the VPN or on your phone's mobile connection.

If you see an error rather than a blank wait, it is almost certainly the expiry described in section 3 — ask for a new link.

Landing in the Wrong Account

If you have more than one Clientt login — say a personal one and a work one, or two different companies — your browser may still be holding the previous session, and clicking a new link can drop you back into it.

Sign out fully first, then use the link:

  1. Sign out from inside the app (the menu under your name).
  2. Close every other tab that has Clientt open — one leftover tab can sign you back in.
  3. Go to the sign-in page and request a link for the address you actually want.

A private / incognito window is a quick way to be certain nothing is left over, though see the cookie note in section 6 before relying on one.

Still Stuck? Talk to a Person

If none of the above got you in, we would rather hear from you than have you keep trying.

  • Use the support button on this page — the help bubble in the corner. You do not need to be signed in to use it.
  • Or email us at support@clientt.com.
  • If someone at your company set up your Clientt account, they can check which email address it is under and re-send your invitation. That is often the fastest route.

To save a round trip, tell us: the email address you are trying, roughly when you asked for the link, what you saw (the exact wording of any message), and which browser and device you are on. Please do not send us the sign-in link itself — anyone who has it can sign in as you.
